The Moon

Staring up at the moon tonight
Watching as the clouds pass below it
Always blocking the moon
Yet never blocking out the light

The moon shines through
Even with the dark heavy clouds
It shines through all and disregards clouds
Not letting them discourage it

I wonder how it can be so calm
So determined to win
Never letting the clouds beat it at all
Not once letting them cover it completely

I walk to the side
I walk to the rear
I walk to the front
Each time the moon follows

It’s constantly following me
Whether in front
Behind
Or next to

It keeps its one eye on me
Never letting me out of its sight
Wondering what I will do next
And watching it all

I stare up at the moon
And wonder how it can be
So calm, determined
And worried for me

It watches me, never stopping
But it doesn’t stop me
It watches from a distance
Only having interest in what I’ll do next
Never interfering

I watch the moon
And the moon watches me
